I'm a retired Ford Motor Company UAW skilled tradesman of 23 years. I am a machine repairman by trade and have a background in electronics.
I like working on computers, either laptops or desktops.
I also like working on cars or trucks, the older ones are my choice but, the newer ones are ok as well. I currently own a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS.
I have also retired from the USAF (Res.) after 23 years as well.
In step 10 you mention that when re-installing the temperature sensor cable when using an SSD just remember to “flip” the cable so it’s installed reversed from when you unplugged it. This will make the fan run properly and not in high speed mode. So if this is all it takes then why bother with a temperature sensor board? Do SSD’s generate enough heat to warrant a temp sensor?
Great guide though; I plan on using this to swap out my HDD with a SSD soon. Will a third party migration program of HDD system to SSD work with the iMAC like it did for my HP computer?
Thanks!
Great guide, used it to tear down my A2200. Found an internal battery:MS6145E located on the top ICB (where the flash is,) does anyone know what this does/powers?
My camera, according to Canon USA has a bad sensor(?) because the display fails after taking one photo, but they did not say what sensor or its location. I tore it down looking for sensors and found one for the flash/redeye and a questionable object (I don’t think it’s a sensor.)
My problem is after taking a photo and seeing the preview instead of going back to “live” display for the next photo the screen goes black but the camera settings still show. Would changing the screen solve this problem?
Thank you very much for your work saving post. Had this completed in 17 minutes from start to finish.
These comments saved me a lot of trouble with my swap of drives. Unfortunately the donor Mac had both screws stripped and I had to drill those out; took me about 10 minutes to accomplish.
Thanks for pointing this out and posting it.
