The battery is the power source for the Roomba 4160. It is a yellow plastic Roomba APS (Advanced Power System) that has a series of small batteries wired together inside. Each time the Roomba is used and recharged, the battery loses a very small amount of internal capacity, and over time, the battery can no longer hold a full charge. In addition, other battery problems, such as a leaky battery or the shorting out and breaking of electrical connections inside the battery, limit the Roomba's operation. Turn the Roomba upside down, and place it so that the underside is exposed. The wheels and brushes should be visible.

Identify the yellow plastic rectangular battery, directly to the right of the spinning brush.

Place your index fingers on the small rectangular plastic tabs on both sides of the battery. Push the tabs in until the battery comes loose.

Pull battery out using your fingers.

To re-install battery, follow these instructions in reverse order.
