Toastmaster W252C Disassembly

The Toastmaster W252C is a vintage waffle maker taken off of the market decades ago and replaced by more modern and complex waffle makers. Join us as we discover and dismantle this relic of the past.
In order to successfully disassemble the device, use a small flathead screwdriver and prying tool. Make sure the device is unplugged and fully cooled before you begin the process. Other than that, there are no dangerous components or specific tools you will need.

    • Remove the 10 mm flathead screw from the top half of the device.

    • Use a spudger to pry the top metal casing away from the burner and fully open it.

    • Remove the 10 mm flathead screw attaching the metal plate to the cooking surface.

    • Separate the metal plate from the cooking surface.

    • Flip the waffle maker over and remove the 10 mm flathead screw from the bottom surface.

    • Use your hands to pull the heat settings knob away from the front of the bottom half.

    • Remove the bottom cooking surface from the metal shell.

    • Remove the 10 mm flathead screw from the inside of the bottom half.

    • Separate the metal plate from the cooking surface.

    • Unscrew the 22.5 mm flathead screw and remove the switch from the bottom cooking surface.

    • You can now separate all the components from the bottom half of the waffle maker.

    • Remove the plastic clips holding the resistor by simply maneuvering them so that they fall out of the hinge.

    • The Toastmaster W252C has a Reparability Score of 6 out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair)

    • Disassembling the device is easy. A single flathead screwdriver is needed to take care of all the screws.

    • The disassembly is straightforward. There are no hidden screws or glue.

    • Since the W252C is so old, there are little to no replacement parts online unless you buy another W252C and take it apart, which defeats the purpose of repairing it.

Do you know what the different model number letters mean? I just found a W252F. Looks just like the model you show. Just wondering what the F means vs C. Thanks
