This guide shows how to remove the tire from the wheel of a Trek 820 bicycle. When diagnosing a tire that does not stay inflated, removing the tire allows for easier and more thorough inspection of the inner tube, sealing surfaces, and other potential damage. No special skills or tools are required, although purpose-made bicycle tire removal tools are available that may make the job easier. This guide will show how to remove the tire without any special tools.

Be very careful using a screwdriver to unseat the tire as it is very likely you will pinch and thus ruin the tube. Better to buy several tire levers at any bike shop - they are inexpensive and made for this job.
