This guide helps you disassemble and put back the keycaps of the Apple PowerBook 140 (it also works on other 100 series models).

The keycaps are connected via 2 clips on the left and the right side of the keycaps. Larger keycaps are connected to stabilizers, be careful when taking these caps off since the underlying plastic has overhangs that can break off.

Firstly pry the clip on one side with a spudger. Keep the open clip up while prying the other clip open. Be careful of the stabilizers when taking off larger caps.

The board still has the white springs and the silicone cone on it. Grab the white spring with tweezers or by hand and take it off. It has 2 clips on the top and on the bottom.

After removing the white part remove the silicone cone with tweezers.

First put the silicone rings on the circular pillars with a hole. Put the silicone rings with their widest part up.

I found the easiest way to put these back is to put it on rotated to the left then spin it clockwise until it clicks.

To correctly orient the keycaps note, that the letters are on the bottom left of the keycaps. Also, the caps are rounder at the bottom. You can find the place for the white spring's arms on the back side of the keycaps.

To reassemble your device, follow from the 3rd step.
