Background
This device page is for the Presto Hot Air Popper. The Presto Hot Air Popper is a popcorn machine that heats and pops popcorn kernels without the need for oils. It is small and lightweight, and easily fits on a countertop, perfect for easy popcorn popping. From a long line of products dating back to the 1970s, the Presto Hot Air Popper has not been discontinued; rather, it has been iterated on, and updated models have been released. Newer models can be picked up for around $30. This is a cheaper, lightweight device with internal components that are not particularly prone to failure; however, there is always a possibility that components may come loose. Presto has since come out with newer models, namely the PopLite.
Identification
The device shown in the disassembly is specifically the Orville Redenbacher model with model number 0484001. The model number can be found underneath the device, imprinted into the plastic casing. This particular model can be distinguished by its red color and tall vertical shape. This model also has a removable clear plastic melting tray that fits into the cover on top. The Presto Hot Air Popper should not be confused with the Fountain Hot Air Popper, which is shaped similarly to a gumball vending machine and made by the same company.
