Troubleshooting
Nespresso Pixie troubleshooting instructions.
Background
The company Nespresso was founded in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1986. It launched its first test concept in 1986. After a decade of testing, it was put on the market.
The idea for Nespresso originated in 1975 when an employee of Nestle named Eric Favre noticed the disproportionate amount of business at a coffee bar near the Pantheon in Rome. He deduced that the reason for this specific bar's great success was the amount of times that the machine operator pumped the piston, which allowed the coffee to have more flavor and foam. Using this bar as inspiration, he invented the Nespresso system, which is a brewing machine that uses a small pod of sealed-off coffee to ensure maximum freshness. In order to extract the coffee from the pod, the machine would use a sharp pointed spout to pierce the sealed capsule and inject pressurized hot water. This caused espresso to shoot out of the spout. Nestle patented this invention the following year (1976). The early prototypes were large, awkward, and complex machines that were not very successful with the target customer base. However, over the next decade, it was refined to become a smaller and less complex machine. In 1986, it was put in market in Switzerland, Japan, Italy, and France. After a decade of success, Jean-Pail Gaillard introduced a large database of consumer preferences called the Le Club community. This caused price reductions and increased capsule sizes, which caused the machine to transform from an office machine to a personal use device. The success of the product led to the opening of a public concept boutique in 2000.
