Lenovo ThinkPad T15g Gen 2 Repair

The Lenovo Thinkpad T15g Gen2 was a professional focused laptop released on May 22, 2023. Models with a discrete GPU are known as P15 Gen2. It was released the same time as the T15p Gen 2 and before the T15 Gen2. The Lenovo Thinkpad T15g Gen2 was released for professional use with a relatively powerful CPU and GPU as well as easily expandable memory and storage that can be used for 3D CAD projects and similarly demanding professional applications. The Thinkpad T15g Gen2 has a battery life of ~10 hours under light to moderate use.

It was never officially discontinued, but the newer models like Gen4 and Gen6 have become available, so Gen2 is not currently being sold. The Lenovo ThinkPad T15g Gen2 is sold globally. The specific target users include business professionals IT departments, students, and gamers. The price for this model was $1500usd and higher. This device fits in as a more powerful alternative to the T15 Gen 2 of the same family.

There are some common issues that users experienced, such as keyboard replacement issues, power-on issues, and problems with the touchpad buttons not working. There have also been complaints about lag or fan noise. Some praises about the device include, it is built to have high durability, there are many ports, and it has a good business specific design.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T15g Gen 2 has a smart card reader, an SD card reader, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, and a Kensington lock slot on it’s right side. It also has an HDMI 2.1/ 2.0 port, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, a Nano-SIM card slot, and a headphone/mic port on it’s left side. On the back it has an RJ45 port, a USB-C port, two USB-C Thunderbolt™ 4 ports, and a DC power in port. The device has the ThinkPad logo on the back of the chassis behind the screen and inside the chassis below the keyboard. The model number can be found at the bottom of the device.
