Background:
The Jay J3 Posterior Wheelchair Backrest is a critical piece of a wheelchair that can elevate comfort and functionality for any wheelchair user. Originally crafted in 2007, it was created with its users in mind, using the measurements of the human body to accomodate all humans. The backrest system uses over 150 structural shells to support many different body types and needs.
Since 2007, the team behind the Jay J3 has used feedback from consumers and their own observations to improve upon their original design. They eventually formed the 2015 Enhanced J3 Back Hardware Portfolio as a way to improve upon specific pieces of hardware within the Jay J3. These pieces assist the function of the backrest, such as its ability to recline or be removed entirely from a wheelchair.
Over the years, over forty shapes and sizes have been introduced to the growing selection of backrest options. It has plenty of modification options and uses multi-density foam in order to ensure maximum comfort. In addition to this, it allows for airflow, cooling, and the option for expanded sizing.

The Jay J3 Wheelchair Backrest can be recognized by its sleek black appearance that combines both padding and sturdy plates to function properly. Coming in a variety of shapes and sizes to accomodate a large selection of wheelchair users, there is no singular model that can be referenced for appearance purposes. However, all Jay J3 products can be identified through the logo found on the back of the product in the center of the padding.
