Background
The Bosch 33618 is a cordless 18V drill introduced in the early 2000's (most likely 2002-2003) as a part of Bosch's "Brute Tough" series. Its design purpose was for heavy-duty drilling applications. It includes a multi-speed gearbox for adjusting its speed and torque, as well as a variable-speed trigger to control its operation. As the drill ages, normal wear can lead to reduced battery capacity and the failure of internal electrical components. Over time, normal wear to the gearbox and chuck can reduce the tool's performance. Overall, many of the problems this device experiences are from aging, rather than design flaws.
Identification
The Bosch 33618 is a 5.7-pound (with batteries), cordless drill with a side handle on the right side of the tool and a red "Bosch" logo on the left. Directly below it, the "Brute 18V" text, highlighted in white, identifies the tool as part of the Brute Tough series, a line of tools designed for heavy-duty use. You can identify your drill by checking the label on the bottom of the device for the model and serial numbers.
