Background and Identification
Altec Lansing produces a variety of audio equipment, including speakers, headphones, pro audio devices, and accessories. The company was founded in 1927 as Altec Services Company and started off producing loudspeakers. In 1941, Altec Services bought Lansing Manufacturing Company. They then merged the two names together and called their company Altec Lansing. Today, Altec Lansing is headquartered in New York City.
Among Altec Lansing audio equipment are Altec Lansing speakers. Altec Lansing offers a myriad of speaker options, ranging from devices that just get the job done (the Baby Boom for $29.99) to professional audio systems (the Line Array System for $2,500).
Altec Lansing Speakers have various appearances depending on the functionality of the device. The company’s smaller, portable speakers are commonly rectangular with smooth, curved edges. They are small enough to be handheld. More advanced (and expensive) Altec Speakers and audio systems are larger, rectangular towers that sit on a table, shelf, or the ground.
