If you’re having trouble with the Acer Aspire 5740-6378, please refer to the trouble shooting guide.
Background and Identification
The Aspire line of laptops for Acer was first created in 1999. The Aspire 5740 is much newer though, the series debuting in 2008. It’s default operating system is Windows Vista, although newer renditions of the series have newer operating systems, such as Windows 7. This is the case for the 6378. It has a 15.6 inch screen, with a resolution of 1366x768. By default it has an Intel i5 processor, with two cores, and 2 2GB RAM cards. This leaves the laptop with 4GB of memory. Its hard drive holds 320 GB of space as well.
There are several defining features that can help you identify your Acer Aspire. On the cover of your Acer Aspire, it should say Acer, and should have a slidable lock keeping the screen closed. To be sure it is specifically a 5740-6378, flip over your device and check the stickers placed there by the manufacturer, as they have the device’s full name.
