Where is the reed switch?

Hello, I have just replaced the logic board in my A1286 late 2008 MBP.

Now the screen wont switch off when the lid is closed.

I can put it to sleep by muse or keyboard but not by closing the screen.

I have tried sweeping a magnet across all of the base and it doesnt respond to that at all.

The ribbon cable on my IR/sleep light was a bit tatty so i cut it back a few mm and scraped of some material to reveal new copper. The Sleep light and IR now works again.

My question is, where is the reed switch that switches the mac to sleep mode when magnetically triggered in this model of mac? Is it part of the IR/sleep light circut? does it share the same connector? If not where is the connector on the logic board.

Would be great to know...

Thanks.

Bo

iBo, here is what the manual suggest:"Check if sleep event happens repeatedly in system.log If sleep/wake events are repeatedly reported, plug external monitor and run ASD to check for sleep sensor test. Verify if sleep sensor test is failing.

Action:Check for intermittently shorted sleep sensor in top case. If damaged, replace sensor/cable of top case.

Check IR cable is properly seated

Reseat and retest sleep sensor with ASD. If failing again, check for presence of magnet in display assembly above sensor.

If magnet present, replace sensor/cable or top case and retest. If still sleep sensing failing, replace logic board

if magnet missing replace display assembly

The image shows the sensor to be on the bottom right (left in the picture). Hope this helps, good luck.
