Worth replacing the screen?

We use Google Fi and use the protection plan. My wife received the certified refurbished after her Google pixel 7 pro bit the dust. After 4 days the screen has died. She has gone ahead and ordered the 9 pro because these 7 pros have been nothing but problems over the years.

Backstory done here is the issue with the "certified" refurbished they provided. The screen is completely black and unresponsive. Android Auto connects and when I call it rings. Rather than deal with warranty wife wanted me to take a look at what could be wrong. I found a tiny prick in the ribbon cable of the phone that looks like a faulty tech install. But as I wanted to be thorough I took the whole thing apart and found the below picture on the motherboard in the bottom left corner. It's as if the motherboard was ground with sandpaper or something. Is it worth getting a new screen (as I clearly voided the warranty by opening it up and checking)? Or would this motherboard problem cause future issues down the road?

Side tangent. Using a graphite sheet that disintegrates when removing is a horrible way to cool down the phone. I'd probably have to order one of those as well as a screen to just fix the screen.

Hiya, you could try a screen replacement but its likely not the issue. To me it seems its a botched repair someone has done to the phone. It may be worth contacting the store where you got the refurb device from to see if you can get a replacement or a refund on the phone and explain what you found.

From the image you sent it appears to be a couple areas of concern with where I have circled, I am unsure if this is normal for a pixel 7 device to look like this when you open the device. But to me it isn't normal. I hope this helps in some way.

Looking at the iFixit Google Pixel 7 Pro Motherboard repair I found this photo:

It seems like there's nothing there originally. The space is left there for the vibration motor(not sure but it looks like it), connected by a spring contact and mounted on the midframe.

I don't think that's what causing the issue for the screen. It could be the prick in the cable; those pretty much always mess up the screen. Other than that, I don't think anything is wrong with the motherboard. Right now, I would advise you to buy a screen that allows refunds, so if it doesn't work then you can send it back. Or you can contact the store where you got it from, as @autumnwatson suggests.

EDIT: the guide images are a bit small, so I will leave the guide here.Google Pixel 7 Pro マザーボードの交換

Also, damage in cables are NOT normal, so make sure you mention that to where you got it from.
