Mac does not recognize battery after replacement

Replaced my Macbook Air Late 2018 battery yesterday but when I boot the computer doesn't seem to recognize the battery and all processes are extremely slow. It took me around 10 minutes just to load up activity monitor and the CPU is running very slow at 200% capacity. Fans are also running non-stop and are very loud. I tried resetting SMC but it didn't work.

Your system is running in CPU Safe mode. This is when SMC believes there is a risk of overheating if allowed to run normally.

I would start off running the on board diagnostics to see if an error pops up. If it does tell us the full details. Here’s how to get to it Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac

To check your battery and charging logic install this gem of an App CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the Apps main window while the charger is plugged in and post it here so we can see it as well.

Tried running Apple diagnostics, got 2 error codes: PPT001 (battery not detected), and PMF006 (issue with SMC). I can’t post pictures in a comment but running coconut battery gives me an error message saying "no battery found".

@sri63952 - So the battery connection is either not fully seated or the battery is bad as the BMC logic within the Battery is not working.

The battery connection was indeed not fully seated. I fixed it and all seems to be good now. Thank you so much for your help!
