8 LCD LVDS Screen Cable Compatibility
I have a late 2011 MBP 13" here according to the system report, Issue is the screen sometimes will fade away and or not display anything at all especially when tilted at certain angles, sometimes a gentle wobble of the display rectifies it and sometimes closing the lid and lifting it back open again makes the display come back to life. My guess is that it needs the LCD cable replaced, to my knowledge their are 3 versions of this cable available for A1278 models. Upon inspection it seems to have what looks like a 2012 cable already installed, but there are versions specific to 2009 2011 and 2012 am I correct? Can anyone show me or tell me what exact cable is required here, I DO NOT WANT to modify the connector or anything ,just wish to use the correct stock part for this unit.

@oldturkey03 Is the Late 2011 cable different from the 2012 cable in any way?

@livfe I can't speak for the cable but I can tell you that there is a different connector on a 2011 vs 2012. That would lead me to say that yes, the cable is different.

@oldturkey03 Yes Early 2011 are different (Gold color) for sure (Speaker & Wifi also are different), the Late 2011 here appears share the same Speaker & Wifi assembly) and the LCD cable also looks to be the same (Silver top side) as the 2012....

@livfe it has a different LVDS connector so the wire has to be different. I wonder if yours "sort of fits" but looses contact etc. See if you can get the proper one for it.
