R shoulder button acting strange

I recently gave my 2ds xl to a technician to fix it because of this issue, and it does work now but not always, sometimes I click the R button and it works but most of the time it doesn't, why does this happen? and can someone tell me how to fix it? I saw someone on Youtube changing the motherboard to fix the R button but I don't want to do that, is there a different way to fix it?

It sometimes works? That's a good sign, it's probably just dirty inside.

Start by taking the bottom case off so you can access the actual buttons. Then dip a q-tip in isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher), hold the ds so the hinge faces up, and use the wet qtip to press the R button a bunch of times. The goal is to get alcohol down inside the button, so a dripping qtip is probably best

I haven't had a reason to do this on a 2ds yet, but it's worked for me with ds lites. Normally I'd go with no fewer than ~30 presses, but you can just pop the battery back in and test it without reassembling everything

If that doesn't work, the button probably needs to be replaced.

I only have 70% isopropyl alcohol, would it be safe to use it?

@nors84229 I have used it in the past, but i wouldn't reccomend it. Check your local dollar store, i know mine has 99% IPA.
