While changing the charging port I lost one of the tiny 1.4 mm screws in the laptop. It’s the one that holds the plate over the port. Will this prevent the charger from working? Everything else went exactly as the guide but it didn’t fix the issue. I did confirm that it was the charging port that was preventing the computer from charging.

Did you install CoconutBattery app so you can see what’s happening? If not let’s do that and post a snapshot of the Apps main window so we can see what’s happening as well with the charger plugged in.
As far as the cable cover screw as seen in Step 5 in this guide MacBook Air 13インチ Retina Display Late 2018 USB-Cボードの交換 as long as you got the one screw in the plate should be OK, even still you should get a replacement screw just make sure it’s not floating inside.

I guess I can’t do that since it’s got no power and I can’t boot up.

Are you sure you have a working charger and are using the correct USB-C cable for your system? If you are sure then that only leaves the battery has failed.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. It’s driving me crazy that I can’t find that little screw lol. I do believe the cable is good but will double check that first and will have to decide whether to spend the money on trying a battery replacement.
