2020 MacBook Pro A2289 Touch Bar and keyboard backlight dead after scr

I replaced the full screen assembly/cover on a 2020 13" Macbook Pro A2289 with a used OEM replacement from eBay. Prior to this, the Touch Bar was working as far as I know.

After replacement, the Touch Bar does not light up at all, and the keyboard backlight also doesn't seem to come on. The display works fine.

I've tried a SMC and PRAM reset but that hasn't helped.

Threads on ifixit seem to suggest that this could be caused by damage, although I don't see anything exposed that I would have damaged. I tried reseating what I think are the touch bar ribbon cables under this bracket https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/... but no dice.

Anything else I can try, or should I chalk this up to mysterious ESD damage or something?

I think you need to inspect the upper case ribbon cable and the logic board connectors which feeds the fans and keyboard back light as well as the TouchBar cables and connectors. You may have a bent pin.

Please post pics of the cable ends and the logic board sockets to we can see things as well.

Thanks, I will do that when I get home in a few hours. Which cables specifically do the fans/keyboard backlights? I checked out this guide and it shows quite a few cables to the logic board

Still wondering how the heck I damaged a cable that I didn't even disconnect during the screen replacement :(

@chambo622 - It’s possible you used a bit too much force pulling on the battery causing the upper case to flex cracking the TouchBar panel.

Here are some pictures of the logic board connectors - I'm not sure which specifically power the keyboard backlight and/or Touch Bar, though.

I didn't necessarily want to take out all of the ZIF connectors that I never touched for risk of damaging something further.

I can confirm that the fan appears to have power - it spins up briefly on boot, then turns back off (probably normal on this machine I imagine, until it gets under heavy load).

I updated the original post with photos

@chambo622 - I do see either dirt or corrosion on a few of the connectors. The ZIF connector in image five as well as the last.

I'm not sure what exactly did it, but the Touch Bar is working again! Huge relief.

Another problem I've since discovered - I tried testing the camera, and System Profile is saying no FaceTime camera is disconnected.

I'm getting mixed information on possible causes. Some people are saying that for T2 MacBook models like this one, there is some pairing procedure after a screen replacement that only Apple can do. While the seller of the screen I bought said "The can fuse or circuit on your board is blown most likely. Common problem after a cracked screen for this model. You will need to replace that 3.3v/5v fuse on your cam circuit." And I'm not finding anything about how to replace that fuse. Does any of this sound correct to you? Thanks again for your help.
