Should I manually upgrade my Mac ram to 8GB(2x4) from the current 4GB?
I'm thinking to upgrade my RAM from 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 to 8GB of RAM? Does it foster the performance and compatible?

Yes! You will get better performance with more RAM. Your system can support upto 16GB which would be the ideal amount if you are working on large files, videos or other images.
Even still, your systems storage (likely a HDD) can also give you more benefit by upgrading to a SSD.
