TouchID not clicking after topcase swap

I recently swapped the topcase and screen on a second hand purchase with liquid damage. From visual inspection, the liquid damage was around the escape key, touchID sensor seemed untouched.

TouchID itself work, however the button does not register clicks. I watched different guide and don't see anything I did wrong during the swap of the sensor.

Can a mistake in assembly lead to the button not working properly or is this likely to be hardware failure off the button?

Did you swap over the button with the logic board?

Yes, I kept the original TouchID button and TouchID is working. The issue is that the power button is not working.

@benton7086 - Which one of the 13" models do you have as there are a few different setups. Pick the system out from here Retina 13" MacBook systems so we can aim you deeper into the logic area.

If you still have the original top case, look at the area where the power button is supposed to go. In the middle area where the bottom of the TouchID button rests there should be a small circular silvery piece of metal embedded in the top case. Now look at the same area on the replacement top case. Is the metal there or is it absent? If it's absent, you'll need to transfer over that little circular metal piece from the original top case to the new top case in order for the TouchID button to click properly. The easiest way to do that is by prying it up with fine nosed metal tweezers, and then laying it in place on the new top case (it's held in place by a little bit of adhesive). Good luck!
