Replaced 3 boards and still doesnt turn On

This is very weird to me since im not familiar to fixing thing, maybe someone can provide help.

I have this oled tv that wont turn on any more and remains on standy.

I have replaced for brand new:

  1. Power supply board
  2. T-com board
  3. Main board

Issue remais. But I found a way to turn it on without screen

by disconnecting either one of these two connectors

I can hear and go to youtube by memory and play videos all good.

Which of course make me think the problem was a faulty screen.

But my question is, how cant it work even with the screen disconnected (image below), these connectors are unplugged

boards I replaced are brand new but still same issue.

In my head this doesnt make any sense at all, after replacing all and same thing, with screen disconnected

Update (12/09/23)

Thanks @oldturkey03.

Model is LG OLED48C1SPA.

Here is the cable I disconnect when it works

Im having trouble understanding how the oled panel can cause this if I disconnected it as image below

Block Image

Does the OLED panel connects to the boards through other cables?

I have replace 3 boards and oled disconnected and it doesnt work unless I disconnect the cable in the first image above

Here is a complete picture with the 3 boards I replaced.

But the oled screen is disconnected as the second image

@juanantoni78806 if it turns on when you remove the ribbon cable, the issue is actually with the panel. Most likely a failed LCD driver board. Those are the long skinny boards that connect to the LCD and can not be replaced. The only thing you can try is a "Tape-Off". Let us know what model your TV is and post one more image. Show us exactly which ribbon cable you disconnect and if you have half a picture or still no picture but it turns on.

Update (12/10/23)

@juanantoni78806 The data comes to multiple lines. Yes, it will come on with some of the cables disconnected but you will find that eventually you'll lose data signal. It only works if you leave the other ribbon cables connected. The outputs of the ribbon cables are not identical on the left and right. By disconnecting that ribbon cable you remove the "fault" that actually prevents it from coming on. It gets the data from the other side as well. I know its weird, but I just work with it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyhow, so this appears to be a panel issue. I'd try a Tape off on the side that is preventing your TV from coming on. Take a look at these YT videos

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atNmhu7H...

Now try this. Leave the cable you previously disconnected (your picture #3) connected. Turn your power off, disconnect one of the ribbon cables from here

and reconnect your power. Turn it on. What do you get? Disconnect the power, reconnect the ribbon cable, disconnect the next one. Reconnect the power and turn it on. What do you get? You see the pattern :-) give it a try and see what you get.

You know all your boards are new so the likelihood of this being a board issue are very, very slim. That leaves the panel. Tape-offs work about 3/4 of the time but when they work, they work. Also, if nothing else, take a look at your driver boards. Those are the boards where the ribbon cable terminate. See if you find anything odd and fixable on those.

Hi @oldturkey03

So I have tried all combinations with the ribbon cables, but it feels like the power source dont change.

2 clicks on the power board every time, standby red light blinks once.

All ribbon cables combinations gives the same, even without ribbon cables at all connected, then one by one, then different combinations, same behavior.

@oldturkey03 I guess that what I didn’t imagine was the T-con only works if it has ribbons cables connected ?

My understanding is that just interconnecting 3 new boards: power, tcon and main. Without ribbon cables to oled panel, should have worked (no images)… tcon actually gets heat on the chips without ribbons, but its not working, double click sound on power board

No ribbons on tcon could help identify issues with the panel, but I was wrong right? if tcon only works if ribbon cables are plugged, then Im lost and it’s probably a oled panel issue

@juanantoni78806 you are correct that the T-con board only works if the ribbon cables are connected. Indeed, this appears to be a panel issue.
