Software screen burn issue linked with IOS

I assumed the screen burn was due to excessive brightness on one static image that burnt the pixels in on this iPhone. I replaced the OLED and the screen burn is still there! Its a common issue in the new iPhone 15's and an IOS update was meant to fix it. I have tried restoring, flashing and updating. Nothing has helped. Has anyone had a similar issue and know of a fix, its quite frustrating that I now have a new screen that looks like its got a defect.

It is not a screen issue I have checked with another genuine display and it displays the same burn in on this one too. Seems to be programmed into the software. Anyway of wiping IOS completely and installing fresh?

I have managed to solve the issue but won't remove this question in case someone else is experiencing similar problems. This is what I have done that has worked for me

  • Make sure display connector is clean and installed correctly
  • Force restart phone
  • Update IOS through settings (17.1.2, Apple said this will patch this issue)
  • Try updating to public beta patch if regular does not work
  • Enter DPU mode and restore phone through itunes (My restore didn't want to download IOS firmware so I downloaded latest firmware from 3utools (17.1.2 in this case). Left click on restore whilst holding shift on itunes to open folder with system file. Continue with process.
  • Flash phone (Only as a last resort and at your own risk) I used 3utools

Always back up the device if you have important files/data before attempting

What worked for me in the end was the DFU itunes restore with the 3utools firmware, which booted with the same problem. I then tested a few displays on the phone (all which gave the same issue). I then put the replacement screen back and restarted which suddenly solved the issue. No more screen burn and I'm not 100% on what solved it but I can share the process which may help someone 🙂

The same thing happens to me, I have an iPhone 12 Pro in iOS 17.2.1 and it has the same problem, since previous versions. I compared with 3 other iPhone 12 and an iPhone 13 and they also have that problem, so it's not hardware but software. I don't know how Apple hasn't been able to fix this error. I hope you solve it in ios18
