CD not ejecting CDs...

Yamaha MCR-B043 has stopped ejecting CDs. Can it be cleaned/refurbished or should I repace the CD player?

paper clip that tiny hole (tray face) to eject, then see if a drive belt (rubber band) is broken inside; if yes, then yes, it can be repaired (find a similar, or at least round (not flat) shaped small rubber band, like fits around two fingers, and can be tight—then struggle to reconnect the two wheels, one small like smaller than pencil diameter, one more like a nickle ($.05), that both have edge (or rim) grooves in them (for said drive belt; aka rubber band), and one moves when you manually open and close the optical drive tray

I find bending said paper clip (you used to punch open the tray via that tiny face hole), at the tip, to resemble a tiny u or v, to help seat those wheels with the new [rubber band], and even use closing the tray with the moving one partially attached, to sort of suck said band, into place (having the other non-moving wheel fully pre-seated)

hopefully that makes sense! good luck (optical drives are dodos; if you fail, temp borrow a friends computer with optical, to grab your data)

oops: just copped pic of MCR-B043; there won’t be an obvious paperclip hole in those slot type drives (to eject the current music cd), but hit up the area like 1cm from either end of the slot (bottom edge likely), like poke around and you may catch that sort of push to manually eject spot

the only way to “repair” (the stero system), is to open it up that stereo, get access to that disk drive, and remove the optical drive box (note it’s model number), then swap in a new one

(because slot optical drives usually do NOT have a drive belt, thus not repairable)

Hi @rogerramje52299

Here's the service manual that may help.

The disassembly procedure is shown on p.14 and the cd drive unit is part ID #2-20 seen on p.81 & p.82, (part number ZQ549800)

I couldn't find a replacement when searching online for the part number, you may have better luck. Perhaps the drive eject motor is not faulty and it may be something else e.g. faulty eject button, fault in the wiring or on the boards. The manual has the wiring diagrams a well.
