Whirlpool Quiet Partner II: Model DU1101 New control panel went blank

Several weeks ago, I had troubles with my control panel flashing lights. Paid online opinion said my control panel was shot. New control panel installed. Worked fine for about a month (but door mechanism seemed a little tighter). Now blank panel. Tried the circuit breaker reset and the 'normal+heated dry' button stuff. Nothing. I'm suspecting maybe door latch switches or fuse? Dunno. Somebody please give me insights. Thanks.

Hi @unclecarl43482,

What is the full model number of the dishwasher?

Asking as there are 27 models beginning with DU1101 and they're not all the same. At least not as far as using the same tech sheet anyway.

My apologies, I assumed that's all that was needed. The exact model number is DU1101XTPQ6. Thank you.

Hi @unclecarl43482

Check if the thermal fuse has blown. (supplier example only to show location of fuse and a video for how to replace it)

If it has blown, it needs to be replaced as it is a non resettable type. Search online for 8193762 to find suppliers that suit you best.

It is there as a safety feature to cut power to the dishwasher if there is a short somewhere in the dishwasher causing excess current flow through the fuse or if the dishwasher overheats.

Maybe also check if there's a problem with the high limit thermostat as this should cut power to the heater during the drying cycle if it gets too hot.

Here are the operating specs for the thermostat to disconnect the heater - Opens 77°C–83°C (171°F–181°F). The heater element is 10-30 Ohms

Note: The tech sheet is part # 8535541 but unfortunately I couldn't find a free download online or even one where you had to pay for it, that was in stock by the suppliers.

Well the fuse tested bad. I was going to test the thermostat and heating element but never got around to it, so I just ordered the fuse and hoped. But that was it! Thanks Jayeff!

B$ you blow another fuse, ohm out the circuit to insure there is no short that caused the blown fuse. Fuses don't normally open for no reason.

@ruggb

Totally agree with you but this is a "thermal" fuse so not only will it blow if there's a short but also if the surrounding temp is too high as well. Sort of like a fuse combined with a non resetting thermostat. That's why I suggested checking the high limit thermostat as well

Cheers

@jayeff good point. It sounded to me like he was talking about 2 different fuses.
