John Hultman:
To everyone that has been having an "Please wait while we load" issue, I've been able to fix this issue with my 47G2 by using a factory restore the folks at LG taught me. I recovered my TV without needing to wait for a update pushed from Google—I actually don't think that kind of fix will happen.
• The bad news is, it'll wipe your setting and downloads.
• The good news is, your Android update will still be there and you can use your newly upgraded TV. Besides, you'll still be able to redownload anything from the Google Play store, anyhow.
1) Your TV needs to be off.
2) On the TV set, press and hold the SETTING button for a beat—don't let go, then hold Ch Down, let go of the SETTINGS button, then let go of the Ch Down button. That should take you in to Recovery mode.
3) Select Factory Reset, and continue from there.
A working and refreshed TV, and a new year! Happy New Year!
BTW, here's LG's number in case of any further issue:
800-243-0000
This is a followup comment also retrieved via archive.org with some additional information that may help:
+Joe Williams posted the same solution +John Hultman and I posted his solution in the LG forum previously via copy and paste to a person named +Kyle K in the LG Forum here but did not see anyone else saying it fixed the problem and could not test it out since I don't own the LG TV -
It's nice to know that you can verify this fixed your problems as I was waiting for someone to verify the steps before recommending it.
His exact steps were as follows and may be helpful since it tells you what buttons to use in case your remote does not work - Feel free to chime in if his steps were not as you remember
I got help from a dude over on another forum, and now my tv is back up and running, follow the instructions exactly and it should work for you guys that had the issue with the "please wait while we are loading" message ....
i think i can help!
How to access boot menu
These steps are done on the touch sensitive buttons on the TV set
1. Turn TV OFF
2. With the TV off, place one finger on the ‘Settings’
3. Place another finger on ‘Channel Down’ (should look like a down arrow) – Both fingers should be on both buttons now
4. Take finger off of ‘Settings’
5. Take finger off of ‘Channel down’ (looks like a down arrow)
Review – Finger on ‘Settings’, finger on ‘Ch down’, take finger off ‘settings’, then take finger off ‘Ch down’
Once this is done the Boot menu should show up
Note= To exit this Menu press power on remote or TV and WAIT 10 seconds or more and the TV will turn off

OR
The you can use the navigation buttons on remote (up, down, left, right)
Select ‘Wipe data/factory reset’
Once you select factory reset..
Scroll down and select ‘YES – delete all user data’

You will see some yellow writing in the bottom left of the screen. When this is done, select ‘Reboot system now’

WAIT up to 1-2 min before the ‘WELCOME’ screen shows up.
Note – the TV signal may show up before the welcome screen shows up. Just wait a few moments.
hopefully the pictures work...
NOTE = DO NOT CHOOSE ANYTHING ELSE IN THE BOOT MENU AS IT MAY BRICK THE TV.....BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.
@johnharry7 have you checked on videos like this to see if that may work for your TV?
Yes, it is possible that your TV needs a new main board but your current issue do appear more like failed firmware.
