Phone not recording both audio and video note
iPhone 7 Plus Microphone has been disabled. (Hardware or software issue?)issues:
Microphone seems to be disabled/not working. (no app that uses my microphone like dictation, voice memos, siri, phone calls, video, instagram, or any other app will even let me use the mic)
Taptic engine that provides haptic feedback seems to have issues.
These are the only two issues so far.
To preface, I have not dropped my phone very often, but I am not gentle either and it might have had some banging around but nothing that has caused it problems for the last 4 years, until now. A couple days ago I had issues while on a call, it was static-y and kept cutting out. Later that day my voice calls stopped all together. I can answer calls and make them but neither side can hear the other person.
Later in the day my haptic feedback started acting weird and making this metal hollow clicking sound that seems to be an issue many people have had when the taptic engine inside the phone became loose..
I did trouble shoot and this is what I found.
Microphone:
Calls can be accepted and made but neither person can hear the other and it ends up dropping the call after about 10 seconds or answering.
No app can use the mic. It is just straight up disabled.
Voice memos won't start recording when I press the red button, When I record a video and play it back there is no audio and the sound button at the bottom of the video is grayed out.
It is not an audio issue though because youtube, instagram, apple music, and everything thats not my recorded content works.
I downloaded a couple microphone apps and when asked for permission to use the mic and I agree, the app simply crashes.
Taptic Engine:
loud metal like sound when I press the home button. Any other vibrations also make weird sounds and vibrations. Like stated, this is apparently an issue when the taptic engine comes loose. The thing is, I opened up my iPhone and the taptic engine is tightly in there and seems fine. Maybe These are two unrelated peices of hardware I believe but they are close to each other in proximity and given that they also malfunctioned on the same day I cant help but think this issue is because of one or both pieces of hardware. When the phone is on and the screen is detatched from the casing hardware and I test the haptic feedback the taptic engine seems to function just fine, which may mean that something else is messing up the taptic engine nearby it and that the taptic engine itself isn't fine. I have researched everywhere and cannot find an answer to my specific issue which is why I am now doing a discussion. I even tried to trouble shoot a lot of the problems myself and this is all I could find out for now. I am open to trying more new ideas.
Thank you
