Screen stays off after closing then reopening lid
Hi, i have a MPB intel 2020 that I swapped into a new topcase/new screen. i switched over the trackpad too because the A and D keys wernt working with the other trackpad as theres some link to trackpad and keys. the laptop works fine and everything is working as it should except after I close the screen and reopen it, the screen stays black. Ive heard it could be trackpad related. things i can think of are trackpad or lid open sensor. anyone have any similar problems with a solution?
Edit: just wanted to add that the macbook is for sure on, as the touchbar and keys are lit up

Its this, correct? I have junkers I could use, but is there nothing else it could be other than this damage to this sensor?
@vio777 - if the external display works then we know the video logic is good. You stated the screen does show an image and it’s only when you close the display and the reopen the screen is black. You also stated you put in a new display. So the screen is getting the video signal and the backlight is functioning.
So it’s either the hall sensor or the displays backlight cable is damaged so it fails when you reopen the lid.
And yes, that little guy is the hall sensor.
If you put things back together, passing a rare earth magnet allow the uppercase where the sensor sits should emulate the lid closing, then pulling the magnet away should allow the display to become active again. That is without moving the display from its working position. If that failed you’ve proven the lid sensor and it’s logic within the board is the issue.
