My Dustbuster does not keep longer than a minute after charging?
It charges but doesn’t stay operating for more than a minute? Could it be the charger connection?

I agree. The nicad battery in the dustbuster loses the ability to charge after a few years.
As the comment in this disassembly says, a replacenent battery may cost more than a new dustbuster.

And nicad batteries are poisonous (heavy metal)

After several years of use, rechargeable batteries wear out.

@mitzi34923 Is the rechargeable battery removable from the device? If not, you will need to take it apart.
