It will power on but shows fatal error: steam needs to be online to update. Please confirm your network connection and try again. I dont know what to do I feel like I wasted nearly a thousand bucks It was a gift for my kid she had it less than 48 hours and now the warranty is up and they won't refund it either. :(

Have you performed a factory reset?
Alternatively you can try plugging in a USB-C to RJ45 dongle then connecting an Ethernet cord from your router/modem to the steam deck. Then try updating it and seeing if its actually a hardware problem and not just a bugged software issue.
