Thinking of buying used expedition 4

The speaker I am considering buying sounds great but comes with a few concerns. First off the previous owner has had the speaker plugged in for 6 months, can this damage the battery? My second concern is that there is no cover to the charging area, thus making it not waterproof anymore. Can I buy a replacement cover for the speaker? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
