Apple logo flashes, Apple says it’s a “hardware issue”

I sent an Apple Watch Series 3 A1858 gps, non cellular to Apple for repair. The Apple logo comes up when I do a hard reset but disappears when I let go. On the charger it shows an Apple. It was never paired with a phone, or on my Apple account. It was given to me by my friend. Apple wouldn’t tell me anything besides the screen and outer casing are great. That “Our technicians inspected your product. They noticed it shows signs of accidental damage or misuse, so they can't repair it. The repair wouldn't be covered by the warranty, an AppleCare product, or an Apple repair program. We'll send the product back to you right away. We apologize for any inconvenience.


Model: WATCH SERIES 3 (GPS) ALUM 38MM.” They wanted $159 plus tax to give me a refurbished one because Apple doesn’t repair them. They scrap them, oh yeh bet most people didn’t know that. The first guy slipped and said they found water damage, but the next guy said it just showed a hardware issue during the diagnostic test. I’m seriously at a loss. If I get told to push buttons one more time! Lol please help. We’re enlisted military and can’t afford to buy a new one if it’s a simple fix.

I think spending $160 to get a replacement is as best you’re going to get here.

From what you are saying it sounds like there was water damage. As good as the watch is from leaks its possible you got one which just couldn’t handle what it went through.

I fix electronics for fun, I mainly do the software end and my husband does the mechanical end. I can’t stop until I know it’s dead in the water lol. Replacing the battery with all the schematics I have, wouldn’t be that difficult. Apparently Apple refuses to share its findings with the customer. They wouldn’t tell me the issue. Just that it was a hardware issue. That doing the diagnostic test wipes it and factory resets it. To try to get it to work when I get it back. It’s odd because I didn’t charge it for a week and the Apple logo kept coming up every single time I pressed buttons, literally any button.

The SIP module is likely damaged. Look behind the strap for the diagnostic port is the cover still present and not damaged?

If you really want to dig deeper you'll need the special diagnostic cable and diagnostic software. Even Apple doesn't offer much within it.

I have yet to see a clean schematic or board views for any of the watches. If you have them you are very lucky!
