Battery indicator works but does not charge or get recognized

I replaced my MacBook Pro Mid-2010 battery around a year ago and it was working fine until recently. I was doing a graphically intensive task with my MBP charging. My MBP heated up and the cooling fans started working. After I was done I unplugged the charger and my MBP shut down and wouldn’t open unless plugged in to a charger. This had happened once before but it fixed itself after a few days.

In this case the battery went from 100% charge to “Not recognized/ replace.” The battery indicator works properly but the laptop itself doesn’t recognize the battery. The charger is colored green but never red, although it takes some moving around before I can get the laptop to connect to the charger. I’ve tried reseting the SMC by removing the battery and holding the power button for 10 seconds, tried opening the MBP with Command+Option+P+R, Command+Option+Left shift+Power. The battery is still not recognized.

Could there be something wrong with the logic board in this Macbook or is it more likely to be the battery or some other part? I’m worried that it might be something to do with the logic board because of the heat of the laptop before the issue occured.

Would appreciate any nudge in the right direction to fix this laptop’s battery issues
