Bob Colman any of these spun bearing ,idler bearing, water pump would not be intermittent. What have you checked? Any pattern when this knocking start, how long it lasts? Describing the knocking? How many miles on the engine?

Have you checked the OBDII port for any codes that might be there and that give an indication of what may be happening?
Just eliminating possibilities.
