iPhone restore error code 2012

iPhone board is unfortunately one of the disturbingly more common ones being reworked in a chinese lab getting in EU as refurb, thus no clear history. Had a badly reworked faulty audio IC that was fixed, yet it showed little glitches partly due to aftermarket parts fit in the housing. After everything was finally put together with known good parts a restore was started with iOs 12.4.

Restore with iTunes got stuck first at verifying software, afterwords went into error 2012. 3Utools gets stuck at verifying filesystem, no error, it just hangs.

I can’t find any error 2012 reference, I fear a Nand issue but before wasting time on it would appreciate any insight if someone has already gone through something similar.

FYI...deleted the SPAM answer (all of their answers were linking the same site).

I suspect NAND as well but no personal experience with this error code.

The only experience I have with error 2012 is windows related, so not sure if you’re restoring from a windows machine. If so, it’s related to either pending windows updates or an out of date iTunes version. Check both and apply any available update first. Reboot and try again.

If restoring on Mac, it can be caused by windows running inside parallels or VMware (or other virtualization software). Close the running VM, and the hyper visor itself to fix this.

Nope, it was done on a Mac with updated iTunes and then on Windows with 3Utools. It just hangs on both. Will put it aside as a hopeless case until I find spare time for it.

Yeah it was Parallels that gave the issue. It was fixed after fully closing the machine down!
