Replace battery, earpiece speaker and lightning jack-what sequence

I am going to replace three things on my iphone 6:

-replace battery;

-replace earpiece speaker; and

-replace lightning and headphone jacks assembly.

What order should I proceed in my repairs? In looking at the manuals, it seems that I should do it in this sequence:

  1. Open the case, including a full removal of the the front panel;
  2. remove the old battery;
  3. replace earpiece speaker;
  4. replace lightning/headphone jacks assembly;
  5. install new battery; and
  6. reinstall front panel and close the device.

Does this seem like the proper order? Any hints to do all three? Am I correct that I do need to completely remove the front panel? I would really prefer not to remove the front panel, but it seems necessary for the earpiece speaker replacement.

Thanks for any input.

Dont know what ur talking about removing the front panel??? U need to remove the front screen to do any repair in any iPhone since the iphone 4s otherwise u cant get in.

I would personally change the battery see if it works and starts up ok, then just plug in the charging flex and see if it works ok check microphone etc with it just plugged in then fit it fully, after that test again and then fit the earpiece.

Front panel is the terminology the IFixit instructions use, so I wanted to be consistent. The problem is that the lightning port is the most serious fix. The battery is getting bad, but still works and you can use speaker rather than the earpiece. However, I don't think I could test the battery without changing out the lightning port it's gotten so bad.

Can I power it up with the case open and check each component as I go as you are suggesting or do I need to close it all back up and reopen as I go? Thank you.

U can open it and and test as u go as long as u dont over stretch or bend the flex cables for the screen too much... u dont have to fully fit the charging flex to test it, just plug it in and test its charging then do the rest, the only reason I say do it in stages is because people do these things all in one and go and if ur not experienced and something goes wrong u dont know what stage things went wrong in... most important part in any of this is all the screws are important and all of them are pretty much different sizes.

When u remove the screws for the plate that holds the screen connectors in make sure u dont mix up the 5 screws if u have no other way to organize them just lay them out in a pattern on a piece of paper and put tape over them to hold them, messing up here u can cause long screw damage to the board. Then with the screws at the top of the screen for the bracket that holds the earpiece, 3 different screws mixing these up and u could damage the screen.

Its easiest to pull the battery tabs out to remove the battery when u have removed the charging flex, if u get the tab with a pair of tweezers or something similar just keep pulling slowly all the way down and it should take the adhesive out in one go.
