Is the cable next to power supply plug required?

Hello,

I was disassembling my Time Capsule in order to fix the fan issue and thought I unplugged all of the cables following the guide but missed one, a 2 wire plug which clips in on the board right above and to the left of the wan plug

and looks like it was soldered to a small clip on the case next to where the power supply socket goes labeled 4315C

I am not sure what the use of this is as I don’t see a button or anything corresponding to it, nor any clip referencing it. Before I put it all back together, is this needed to operate? can’t find any information on what this does.

Thanks in advance.

You lost the reset button which is a small hole by the power plug that you can hit with a paper clip.

While the unit will work without the reset if you need to reset the unit it will be tricky as you’ll need to short the pins on the header.

Thank you. Do you know if those wires are + or - like on some motherboards, if I can find a way to solder it back on, not sure which wire goes to left or right, I know the plug has a very small 4 and 6 where two wires go into it. If it is just completing the circuit it probably shouldn't matter, but this is apple, so want to make sure. Thanks again.

Switches tend not to have a polarity. When they are mounted in a metal case it might. Here its plastic and has none.
