Why is my monitor saying no signal?

My friends PC hasn’t been working at all we thought maybe it was the monitor but it worked fine when plugged in to laptop the build is https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RGtQYT this includes the monitor but it just won’t work we tried methods to the monitor and checking all ports from GPU to CPU to hard drive nothing seems to work if anyone could help fix this that will be appreciated.

Hi @agoodname ,

Did you try removing the graphics card and see if there is an output from the onboard video HDMI or DVI-D ports? At least to get into BIOS and check the video settings.

Process of elimination first. Make sure that the monitor is good. Then make sure the GPU is good. Also check the cable is good. Before you know it you'll have a spare cable, monitor, and GPU (or switching to onboard as @agoodname said) to be sure.

We tried removing the GPU and just going straight off the ports of the motherboard but it still says no signal my guess was the CPU, but i didn't see any ports for the CPU that was off. If you like screenshots add me on discord @GtsbeastFX#5218

Haha amazing bud. Just took apart my PC, did a paintjob, put it back together and my PC was doing the same thing! Just took the ram out, cleaned it and made it sure it hooked up well, and I fixed my issue :)

Make sure your RAM is properly connected. Take it out, clean it, and replace it. Worked fir me.

So the system turns on but no display?

Have you tried different connection cables, such as VGA, or DVI on the GPU?

I trust your GPU is connected properly.

Try taking out the GPU, and plugging your connection cables directly to the motherboard and see if that boots.

Are you sure its actually powering on? Do the fans run when it is powered up? Are you getting normal beeps? Is the HDD spinning?

さんによる

Hmm. Try taking a stick of ram out for me. Try both by themselves and eventually try taking both out. Afterwards at that point, it would either be a mobo or cpu issue. Try doing that for me and coming back.

And the HDD would not prevent it to boot in ANY way. It would prevent the OS to boot but never the BIOS.

I'll try it out Brett
