Switch does not output video signal

Hi,

Since Nintendo support isn’t being very helpful with this, i’m running out of options.

So, recently my nintendo switch stopped outputting video signal. It all began when i put the switch into the dock, into which i also plugged the pro controller since the battery was empty. It all went well for a few seconds when suddenly the screen (monitor) went black, the switch screen turned on and the dock LED started flashing. Took out the switch, put it back in, nothing, as soon as i put it in the dock, the LED would start flashing again, no signal, and switch is not charging.

I thought the dock was bust so i ordered the dock “motherboard” from ebay. The new motherboard worked to some extent because switch would actually charge this time, but still no video signal.

Next i purchased a USB-C to HDMI dongle. This also worked for charging the switch, and video signal was “there”. Using the dongle, i can see my monitor doing “something”, going in and out of standby mode and, to my surprise, it would actually, for a second or two, get video signal from the switch, and then back to black screen.

And that’s where I am at the moment, not knowing if charging port is broken or one of the ICs. I’ve tried multiple HDMI cables and displays (monitor and TV).

My switch is imported and, apparently there’s no way to send it to Nintendo since i’m not resident of any Nintendo supported country :/,

At least a nudge in the right direction is something i’d appreciate at the moment.

Update (12/28/2018)

It turns out it really was dock that was broken, and, somehow, both dock charging boards i ordered were also broken, including the dongle which simply doesn’t work with nintendo switch. Worst luck ever.

In any case, bought a new switch, only to find this out :D

What country are you in? Are you in a PAL country?

Yes, i'm in a PAL country (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

Also, forgot to mention, to connect my Pro Controller with the dock, I used USB-C cable i got with my HTC smartphone, so maybe that caused the problem, somehow.

Which country did you import it from?

I'm wondering if the problem started because of a voltage drop when you connected the Pro Controller. If you can tell me where it came from originally I will be able to look up the voltage it was expecting vs what you're providing.

It's imported from Germany.

Well then that isn't the problem. It definitely sounds like the problem is in the USB-C port but I don't know what exactly is wrong with it. Sorry I'm not more help.

So we can get an answer out there, You may not plug in a third party power supply to the dock without risking destroying your dock. The motherboard converts and clocks power in a way that is unique to the adapter itself, so as to prevent damage to the console (tablet). Self destruction isn’t the best choice imo but it’s Nintendo. They can do whatever they want. For anyone else having this issue, buy a new dock, not a new computer chip for the dock. Do not use a third party adapter, despite whatever OP used.
