Thank you Jeff

Unfortunately it did not work, I had ordered a new battery from ebay and replaced the old battery using the guide but still the band is not holding the charge.

Band will be on only when it is plugged in, once we unplug the charger it turns off

Please advice if anything else need to be done.

Hi @vsk

It appears as though the battery is failing to hold a charge and it needs to be replaced. Even rechargeable batteries have a lifespan.

Here’s a link to the ifixit Microsoft Band 2 Battery Replacement guide which may be of some help.

Here’s a link to just one supplier of a replacement battery. It is shown only to give an idea of the cost of the battery. There may be other suppliers online (not too many though) that may suit you better. Just search for Microsoft Band 2 replacement battery for results.

Hi @vsk ,

If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) test the battery voltage before and after you have charged the battery in the smartband.

A pain I know but you may have to prove that the battery charging circuit in the band is OK or not.

Since the band operates OK on the charger, this proves the circuit from the charger into the band to the systemboard. What you have to prove is the circuit from the systemboard to the battery itself.

Initially the simplest way is to check the battery voltage before and after.

Isolate the battery from the systemboard to measure the voltage as this will give an accurate indication of the charge. As I said a bit of a pain but I'm not sure if you can test it whilst in circuit so to speak, i.e. whether there is 'safe"access to the battery terminals - you don't want to slip with the test leads and short something out with the power connected, either by the charger or the battery.
