Try connecting to another WiFi network and see if that continues to be an issue.

There is a complete tear down guide available Dell Inspiron 15-7559 Teardown. In the tear down you will see that the wifi antenna is connected to the display assembly so you will need to take the display assembly apart as well.

What is the issue you are having with the laptop?

Thank you so much. I hope it is not so hard and I just need to disconnect a few components and not the whole laptop.

It's pretty involved. In my experience, if you are having wifi issues it typically isn't the antenna and likely the wifi-lan card that is malfunctioning.

I was having issues with low signal strength and I've replaced my wifi card but the issue persists, do you think it might be the antenna?

Possibly, I would take mike's advice and reinstall your wifi drivers first. Also, is this only happening on your home network or on every network you connect to?

I am having the same problem and I believe I have found the cause.

Like many Dell 7559 owners I began having issues with the left hinge on the cover/ monitor. The screws and the threaded inserts have pulled out from the plastic lower case.

The white primary and black secondary antenna wires route through or near this hinge and are now broken. Plain as day they are both severed and inside the monitor side of the hinge.

I am now trying to figure out were the end of these wires are supposed to attach. Not sure if they just got wrapped around the axle (literally) of the left hinge or are the connected to it by design.

Lousy design flaw. Dell should admit this is common and fix it for free.

Can anyone point me to a diagram or picture of where the antenna wire connects on the end opposite of the the wireless card?

Hi,

Usually the antenna cables are routed around the display cover and are not connected to anything other than the WiFi card in the lower case. They are open ended.

Here's a link to the service manual taken from this webpage.

Scroll to p.91 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the display hinge and bracket assembly.

On p.92 there is an image of the cable passing through the hinge

Uninstall and re-install the Wi-Fi card driver.

Note:

I recommend using something like IOBit Unistaller that thoroughly removes all traces of the driver and any configuations. Without out doing that corruption may remain and just be re-incorporated with the new driver.

In general, I have found, this is often the cause of “mysterious” problems with devices. Especially video drivers, LAN and Wi-Fi.

Hi,

I’m having network strength issues with the same model (specifically strength of signal dropping unreasonably fast with distance from source, way faster than any other devices) - I tried reinstalling various drivers, changed the wifi adapter and ran a couple antivirus scans but am a little reluctant to open it up this way

Do you have any further ideas of what should I try or would you advise to change the antenna? is there some step in this decomposition that I should be really careful about?

In my case, the problem was the cable broke. I had to install a new one. You should check if your cable is right or not. The replacement is easy if you follow ifixit tutorial.

Can you link the replacement that you purchased? Did you have to do any soldering ?
