upgrading the video card to a Metal-capable GPU

I also have a iMac 27-inch 2.93 GHz Core i7, ID iMac11,3 (mid 2010).

I recently upgraded to 32GB and a SSD.

Would really like to know if upgrading the video card to a Metal-capable GPU if possible.

I don't really intend or feel the need to even start thinking about a new Mac.

I run Adobe Creative Cloud applications with ease, since upgrading the Ram and HD my machine runs better than when first I purchased it.

While it’s physically possible (your iMac uses a MXM GPU interface) and the new board would be limited in its space and required cooling. The board would also need the custom Apple firmware to work.

Sadly, I don’t of any that meet these requirements. Maybe someone else might know!

There is some workarounds out there which will allow you to run Mojave on your system but it does have its limits!

For now I would stick with Sierra as High Sierra and Mojave have some issues with SATA based drives as it also automagically upgrades the older GUID/HFS+ to GUID/APFS on SSD’s which is the issue on these older SATA based systems. Mojave applies GUID/APFS to both HDD’s & SSD’s and people are having issues with it on SATA based drives.
