Wait, you can put a keyboard in the dishwasher?

@ajcooke01 - No not really! Just another urban legend like using Rice to dry out phones & systems.

@danj *takes my keyboard out of dishwasher* Haha, I assumed so.

Sorry to say I don’t think this is repairable. You see the switch elements within give keys are now damaged.

The way a keyboard works is a matrix columns and rows (X -Y). A rubber dome switch is used which has a small conductive pad which shorts the X and Y lines. In your case liquid damage from both the spill and then putting the keyboard into the dishwasher.

Time for a new keyboard - Sorry

Yes you can but must be very patient and give it a few DAYS to completely dry.

The only problem I have "heard" of, and I wonder if this is true, is that mineral deposits from the evaporating water could cause short circuits.

Distilled water for washing is a possibility and would leave no deposits.

I don't think letting it drive for a few days will make any difference. Corrosion has set in damaging the wire traces and the switch pads.

You are correct! The galvanic reaction of the salts and minerals within the water is what does you in with tap or well water.

Distilled water would have been much better as its not loaded with the salts or minerals being nothing but H2O! But! It too is not something you want to let sitting as any materials it picks up could turn the water into something bad

Good point. You never know who will read things on this site. The experience range is so great. After 35 years of this stuff I still learn new things and have fixed things breaking "rules". I guess it is experience that saves you.
