Is there a way that I can get my laptop screen to work again? The keyboard back lights work and the razor logo on the back of the display works when I turn it on. But I get nothing from the display itself.

What is the actual model of your laptop?
If you flash your torchlight on the panel, can you see anything on it?
Some issues that could be causing this, e.g. like Faulty LCD module / panel, Faulty LVDS Cable, etc

@birdup "the razor logo on the back of the display works" means you have a working backlight. The digitizer is separate from your LCD and right now it appears as if you either do not get a signal to the LCD or the LCD screen is just not working. Since the external display works I would go with a new screen

I am also able to connect a HDMI cable to it and I can get the laptop to display on an external display.
