I hear the fan louder

Hi, i have a mid 2010 27"core i7 iMac and although all these years i thought it was fanless, the last few days im noticing that -actually- there is a fan :-) It's not like its making a huge noise, i can only hear it but even so it seem strange because i hadn't noticed it before.

Could it be failing? Before i open the iMac to inspect, can i check it through software perhaps?

Update (10/15/2017)

Does this help in some way?

When you chang the hard drive you have to address the Apple priority heat sensor or you will get a run away fan. OWC makes a thermal sensor that you need to install to stop this. Here it is:

What exactly do you mean by "run away fan"? Please describe clearer the issue ;-)

さんによる

The system will go into Safe mode (ramping up the fan to max) when it looses access to any of the thermal detectors within the system.

In this case the Apple custom OEM HD you had in your system offered the needed input, but when you switched out the drive the new drive does not offer that input. Thats why you need the OWC in-line sensor to replace the missing sensor.

I see but i have both the Original HDD and the SSD installed!

Please tell us with drives you changed

I havent changed any drives (sorry for mixing you up before), i only installed an SSD to the original configuration ;-)
