Ultra sensitive touch screen

All of a sudden the touch screen on my IPhone 6plus has become super sensitive. If I hover my finger over the screen it will select items under my finger and sometimes it seems to get stuck and keeps selecting things even if I set the phone down. What I am curious about is if any of the experts think this is a logic board issue or a screen digitizer issue?

To share all history of this phone it was briefly dunked in the ocean then shut off for 2 weeks and has worked for 4 months after that before this problem occurred. I guess it could be corrosion??

Thank you for opinions.

The ocean!?! Wow, that salty water wreaks havoc on the logic board. It's amazing it works at all. Now, this might still be just a screen issue and that is certainly the easiest thing to try. When you open up the phone, you will see pretty quickly if the corrosion is minor or not.

My general recommendation is that water damage has to be addressed first. However, you may just be lucky enough that there was no real damage to the logic board and only the screen is at issue. Still, you need to think this through before investing on a new screen for a phone with water damage history and a device that is prone to Touch Disease.

I have had the phone open and did not see any noticeable corrosion. Most of the solder looked pretty clean and overall the electronics etc looked pretty normal. I agree with your thought process though and if I knew it was only the screen I would probably pay the $100 for new screen but it is a water damaged phone:)

A replacement screen is relatively cheap. If you had access to one, certainly worth a try to see if it solves the problem.
