I have done about 30 different iPhone 6 sceeen repairs last month. Most of them had no issues but about 3 of them have come back with backlight issues. Sent off for motherboard repair and it gets fixed. Any idea as to what may be causing this malfunction of the backlight chip? Customer damage and not being honest?

are you sure they are backlight issues?
there are horrible copy aftermarket screens getting around that do the same thing work fine then screen goes black with only backlight shining.
combination of home and power button presses sometimes work but more often then not you pop the battery the power cycle phone and it will come on again fine and work until it fails again.
id be leaning more towards a screen not a backlight chip

My money's on bad aftermarket screens. Never had these before (I'm also using aftermarket from a trusted supplier I've been using for 6 years) and have been doing 6s for about a year at least.
I agree. Double test, and make sure it's not the display. Also I agree, you need to not be using crappy displays because they're cheap and you're trying to save yourself money
Backlight ic chip every single time. Tried 4 sceeens with same issue. No light. Would also try both copy screens TM and original screens as we stock both. No backlight. I then take those screens I tested in that phone and they work. Send off for repair, they replace the touch ic and all good to go with same screen I had on. Once repaired, it's all good and never get a return. Again, same sceeen in phone that had no backlight to begin with if you understand what I am saying. Always works when customer test after repair but then stops later on. It is definitely not the screen itself that is having issues unless the screens are shorting out that chip. TM usually has some great screens that even iFixit use now.
I guess make sure you are ESD safe / hold power button after unplugging battery for 5 seconds? I'm really not sure what else to say. You aren't mixing up the screws in the wrong spots right (Long screw damage)?
