Damaged Microphone with the SIM Tool?

In my new Moto G5Plus, I mistakenly put my SIM Tool in the hole for the microphone on the rear of the phone instead of the hole for the SIM/Storage tray.

Do you believe I have damaged the microphone ? How can I test it?

To test, go to your camera and record a video with you talking or some sounds or something. Then play it back. If it sounds strange and distorted, its probably damaged. If it sounds fine, its fine.

Try taking a video and see if the sound is distorted or even there. Another thing you could try is calling someone and asking if they can hear you fine and if they notice anything weird. If everything checks out alright then I wouldn't worry about it.

There are two microphones on the Moto G5 Plus, a rear mic and a mic at the bottom. I'm assuming calls would use the bottom mic, but how would I know if the rear mic is damaged?

How would you know? By doing what we told you.

One way you could try testing that is while taking a a video try talking closer to the bottom mic then closer to the rear mic and see if they both sound the same. I think your device will be just as functional without it.

okay, good suggestion, i took a video talking directly into both microphones, and the one microphone seems to go to the right headphone and the other to the left headphone, and they both sound the same, so I think I'm okay! Thanks so much!
