tail lights not working
tail lights not working
Repair guides and support for vehicles manufactured by Lincoln Motor Company, the luxury vehicle division of Ford Motor Company, an American automaker.
@jcronk77, JoAnn, With as little information you provided, I would suggest you check the fuse for rear tail lights, then the Bulbs for being blown, wire/plugs/bulb sockets for loose/corrosion/burnt/damage. Should show fuses and fuse box location in your manual. Year, make, model, etc. and any other details(like are other front lights and rear brake lights working) may help answer your question effectively.
Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Thank you for your response. Yes, we have checked the fuse and it looked good but put a new one in anyway. We have struggled with this for a month. Would one tail light burned out bulb cause both tail lights not to work.

JoAnn Cronk, That may be a possibility, bulbs are not normally expensive, change them all and then you have ruled that out. Check wire/plugs/bulb sockets for loose/corrosion/burnt/damage and if you have a trailer light harness on the car check its connections or remove as these trailer harnesses can cause issues. Do the front marker lights and rear licence plate still come on and if you do reply back Year, make, model may help.

@jcronk77 Also, if you have a multimeter, have someone push the brake pedal or put a rock on it and set the meter to dc 20 volts, stick one probe in one side of where the bulb goes and the other into the otherside and see if your getting 12v or around 12v. if your doing this right and you get no voltage, there might be a short or a broken wire somewhere.
