Home button only replacement?

So, a few months ago my iPad's front screen was shattered, and also came off. I was very annoyed, and since I was in an agitated state, I peeled the middle section off, leaving glass on the inner edge of the screen. My father and I recently sat down with an iFixit replacement kit and repaired the screen. However, I could not recall where the previous home button was, but I am just going to use guided access until then. I wondering what needed replacing, where I'd get the part(s), and if I need to buy adhesive and open the screen again. (I currently have a piece of foam taped over the empty spot, just to keep it covered.

Yes. You'll have to apply new adhesive, if you take the new display off. Yeah, I would put the home button on, and then center the home button cable and ribbon over the hole on the new glass digitizer

Here's a guide, just in case. You shouldn't need to buy a new one, just play with how to install the old one

Ok, so do I just need to buy the home button from the parts store? Do I also need a bracket?

You will need the Home Button, bracket and cable if you dont have them. I would also recommend replacing the adhesive after removal. Also, be very careful as the screen can very easily crack when you're removing it. Time and patience is your friend here.

Oh, I'm sorry. I was confused. I didn't realize you lost the home button. Yes, you will need to buy a new home button flex cable, and a bracket. Holger Keuster is right on both accounts. Be careful, when removing the new glass. It can be broken quite easily

Just gonna finalize some things before I go to ordering, I am sure that nothing has happened to the cable for the home button, just that the button itself came up with the screen and I misplaced it. I need a flex cable, bracket, and they just go under the screen over the place where the button would go?

Yes, if you've lost the parts, from the old display, then you need to buy the new ones, and put them where the old ones were
